Alexsandra, and her three sisters, have been living at the Mi Casa children’s home in Matamoros for several years. With resources limited by strains of the narco-wars, the government operated home can provide only minimal services. Alexsandra was living with both malformed legs and eyes. Working with partners in the United States, Alexsandra has had surgery to repair both.
The collaboration with the Mi Casa children’s home began several years ago. The children of Mi Casa have been beaten or neglected in unimaginable ways. The lack of public resources has caused further neglect in responding to them. Much work is needed, including adequate food, activities and interaction.
